When the World Feels Shaky, Remember What’s Steady

You may be feeling shaken right now.  Maybe silenced.  Maybe like the life and liberties you have become accustomed to have been slipping through your fingers. I’ve been noticing this feeling, too.

I don't want to talk about politics or take sides.  Rather, I would like to address the "noticing".  The witnessing awareness.  The fact that we can be aware when we feel a certain way - whether it does or doesn't feel good. I'd like to talk about spirit, resilience, and remembering what doesn’t waver even when circumstances do.

While events outside of us are often beyond our immediate control, our inner landscape is not beyond our control. There are often situations that we can’t fix change . However, the space inside us - our attention, our thoughts, our energy - is fully ours.

Eckhart Tolle teaches that attention magnifies what it touches. If our focus stays on fear, fear grows louder. If our focus shifts toward possibility, creativity begins to spark. Abraham Hicks calls this pivoting: choosing thoughts that point toward what you want to create rather than what you dread.

So how do we pivot?

  • First, presence. Notice the storm without becoming it. Observe your thoughts and let them pass like clouds.
  • Second, gratitude. Even in dark times, points of goodness remain - an unexpected kindness, a sunrise, a shared laugh. Let these small anchors hold you steady.
  • Third, breathe. Just one minute of breathing into your heart can anchor peace and quiet the noise.

From that place of stillness, dare to vision. Imagine what you want to be true for your life, your community, and our collective future. See yourself and those you love thriving. See solutions unfolding. See compassion growing. When you tend your inner world with clarity and kindness, you’re participating in creating a better world.

I've set my phone alarm to go off four times a day - every day (8am, Noon, 4pm, 8pm.)   When I hear the alarm, I silence it and immediately center myself and repeat the following mantras to my Self:

  • Every day and in every way, Universal Life Force Energy flows to me and through me with ease, grace, and joy.
  • I am positively expecting exceptional results no matter what I see before me.
  • The Universe is rearranging itself in my best interest right now.  

These words aren’t wishful thinking. They’re reminders. They help me release control, trust the process, and focus on my dharma/life purpose.

I invite you to hold these truths close: you are a creator, a witness, and a channel for love. Your centered presence radiates outward more powerfully than you know. Close your eyes for a moment - feel your breath, feel your center. You are more than the noise.
